We spent a couple of hours soaking in the sun! There is nothing quite like laying on the beach, absorbing the rays, listening to the waves, the wind, the seagulls to relax you. FYI - Key West does not technically have sand beaches as the island is made of coral and there is a naturally barrier reef that prevents the waves from crashing onto the shore. The sand you see here is imported from the Bahamas.
Looking out to Cuba - on a very clear day you can see it!
Jackie buried Allison in the sand and wanted to leave her behind.
We toured Ernest Hemingway's home! It was very interesting and yes, there are still six toed cats living there today!
Southernmost home in the USA!
Jackie and Allison with a "native".
Blowing a conch (pronounced CONK for all you non-Key Westers). Just a thought - how many other people have blown on that conch - eww!
Beauty in the islands! FYI - the Fool's Gold is based in Key West and in the islands. The movie footage of the islands are true representatives of what the islands look like as well as what the bar/restaurants are like with long door/windows that open up to catch the sea breezes
There are chickens everywhere! They run loose through the streets and can even be found on top of roofs! Key West even employees wardens full time to catch them so that the chickens do not overrun the island.
